OUR INITIATIVES

From weekly outreach efforts to seasonal drives and long-term community support, each initiative reflects our commitment to bringing hope, dignity, and positive change to our community.

Weekly Feedings

Through a weekly feeding scheme, we try to provide hot meals and soft drinks to the homeless and underprivileged families in Cape Town. We receive a fortnightly donation of produce from our partner, the local supermarket PicknPay Observatory, and fundraise the rest. We manage to feed between 100 and 200 people at a time.

Feeding with the team and family  3 December 2024

Feeding our community goes beyond providing food - it is about addressing basic needs with compassion, striving to provide essential items such as clothing, shoes and hygiene products whenever and however possible.

OUR Projects 2024/2025

In addition to our weekly feeding program, we have a range of initiatives planned for 2025 to support those in need across various areas. These initiatives aim to provide nourishment and care to diverse groups, including children, adults, and families that need it the most.
This year, we have partnered up with the local supermarket PicknPay Observatory to enhance our community outreach efforts.

STATIONARY DrivE:
Empowering education

In South Africa, the new school year begins in January, and for many underprivileged and homeless children, starting school without the necessary supplies can be a significant barrier to their education. At Moving Forward, we believe that every child deserves the chance to learn with confidence and hope. Our Stationery Drive is dedicated to equipping these young learners with essential school supplies such as pens, pen cases, notebooks, rulers, and more. With the support of PicknPay Observatory, we are collecting and donating these items to distribute to two local schools in January 2025.

X-Mas Drive:
Giving back

This holiday season, join Moving Forward in bringing smiles and support to underprivileged individuals in our community through our Santa Shoe bag drive.

We are collecting goods at PicknPay Observatory to create thoughtful gifts filled with essential hygiene items and some treats together with a hot meal and soft drink.  Each bag is carefully packed by hand with love by our dedicated team in South Africa. It’s a holiday gesture that not only brightens lives but also embodies the spirit of kindness and appreciation for those who need it most.

Blanket Drive.
Keeping CApe Town warm

The last winter in Cape Town was especially brutal, with relentless cold winds and heavy rains that made life for the homeless and underprivileged even more difficult. To help ease the impact of this harsh weather, we are launching a blanket drive to provide warmth and comfort to those in the need most.

Through this initiative, we aim to distribute blankets to underprivileged and homeless individuals across Cape Town, offering them some protection from the cold. We are also working on a local collaboration that would help us provide self-knitted hats, gloves and socks to our community. Fingers crossed!

SANTA SHOE BOXES
SHARING DIGNITY & LOVE

We want to repeat our X-Mas drive initiatives next year and additionally serve all the organizations and their employees that we work together. This initiative not only brightens lives but also embodies the true spirit of kindness and appreciation for those who need it most, including the lonely elderly, forgotten disabled children and adults, children at Dance Movement Therapy, and the uplifting efforts at GSCID, among many others.

"Together, we’re making a difference—one meal, one gesture, and one life at a time."

Each organization provides essential services—whether through healthcare, social development, or therapeutic programs—that align with our values of compassion and care. We support the organizations with feeding, distribution of basic hygiene products and whatever need we can help with. By working together, we aim to enhance the well-being of those in need and contribute to building a stronger, more resilient community.
